Change of address guide

(Organize to Minimize friendly reminder to update the following):
  1. Postal Address: Make sure when you move your mail moves too!! Once you make the move you can go online to change your address with  USPS Change of address . The fee for this change is listed currently at $1.10. This fee is for the verification process upon which they will confirm it is indeed you that's looking to move and not someone else doing so fraudulently. When doing this we advise you to be on the lookout for any Third-party sites or links that may pop up requesting you to pay more than $1.10 for the service. Another option to change your address is to do so in person at any post office physical location.   2. DMV (State Licensing agency): aka update your Drivers License: Next you will also want to update your drivers license and vehicle registration. Most states provided the option to visit the DMV at a variety of different locations but you also have the option to  make the changes online . The options can vary based on the state you are relocating to. Please remember that you're legally required to update your drivers license and registration so you will want to make this a priority.

  3. IRS: Don't forget to notify the IRS!!! - Very important to make the IRS aware of the change in address - you will want to be sure to complete  Form 8822  to notify the IRS of the change of address.

  4. Social Security: Make them aware of where you are living!! if you are receiving social security or Medicare benefits you will want to make sure you also update the change of address with the social security administration.  Click here for the link to their website .

  5. Voter registration:  you can update your voter registration online here . By updating your voter registration you will be notified which voting district you are assigned too and updated polling status.

  6. Banks & investments / Personal Loans: Any current provider where you currently have your investment’s. Notify your bank that you have moved so all statements and checks / replacement or new cards can be sent to the correct location. Plus you get the option to order new updated checks.
